Cultural Universality
The overarching objective with the EP was creating music of cultural universality. In that, within the urban-pop genre, anyone anywhere should be able to appreciate the EP regardless of the talent's or composers' cultural backgrounds or the producer's signature sound.
Kaleidoscope
The title reflects the fact that there are multiple individuals (Artists, Engineers, Producer) representing multiple music genres, who contributed various aspects of the production across multiple songs - but together all represents a fantastic, cohesive, multifaceted whole. It is also a metaphor for the beauty of multiculturalism.
About the production of 'Little Things' with Aarti
Aarti explains:
"What makes the song 'Little Things' very special to me is the expression of intimacy. In a relationship, what is special is in the simplest of things. And I feel like something that’s very underrated when it comes to expressions of love, is the fact that it isn't always about the big gestures. Rather, it is the effort towards each other, in a way that you feel emotionally connected and free.
This song allowed me to convey that feeling or emotion through my perspective, so it naturally makes it close to me. Secondly, writing this definitely helped me think bigger as a songwriter, being one of the first few songs I’ve written or contributed writing to."
My Talent Strategy: Emphasise the deep, vulnerable quality in the singer's voice, and her amazing talent for beautiful harmonies. Compose a song that reinforces it, and make sure it has a signature urban Aerik Kylo edge, while staying true to the artist.
About the production of 'Perfect Delusion' with Ananya
Ananya explains what makes the song 'Little Things' very special to her is: "it’s special to me because I got to approach the co-writing in an interesting (and more fun) way. Additionally, I got to compose, write and sing a bubblegum pop song, which I’ve always wanted to do!"
My Talent Strategy: Emphasise the light, joyous quality in the singer's voice, and her amazing talent for beautifully fluttery vocal ad libs. Compose a song that reinforces it, and make sure it has a signature urban Aerik Kylo edge, while staying true to the artist.
About the production of 'Should've Been Me' with Sam
Sam explains what makes the song 'Should've Been Me' very special to him is: "I started to write the song “should’ve been me” as a song based on a hypothetical situation, where the relationship between to people was so perfect, but they couldn’t make things work out for the two of them. If the both of them fully committed they could’ve had a beautiful life together, but unfortunately that’s not what destiny had in store for them. What makes the song special to me, is the fact that I myself went through a situation like this as I was writing the song, which was purely coincidental, but inspired me to write the 2nd verse and the chorus of the song. Being able to relate this song to a chapter in my life makes this song very special to me."
My Talent Strategy: Emphasise the innocent and vulnerable qualities in the singer's voice, and explore his vocal abilities. Compose a song that reinforces his vocal qualities, and make sure it has a signature urban Aerik Kylo edge, while staying true to the artist.
